Black Hammer worked closely with Scholastic to develop the ReadAbout client application, an adaptive reading instruction program for students in grades 3-6 that makes use of the leading educational research to maximize students reading achievement.
Virtual hosts guide students through a series of interactive reading activities selected based on their reading level and performance. Vocabulary words and language skills in the form of interactive cards are added with each new reading passage. In the collection area, students can create custom card collections and complete word challenge activities to reveal bonus cards, and add to their points total.
The client application communicates with the server component as the user progresses and adjusts the instructional content accordingly.
