Nickelodeon - Candy Land The Dora Explorer Edition
Black Hammer was approached to create a game for Nickelodeon combining the immensely popular children's character Dora the Explorer with the legendary Candy Land board game. The result was an innovative twist on the classic game integrating traditional Candy Land game play with a series of mini-games featuring the various Dora characters, an original narrative and scalable difficulty and gameplay.
Designed for Nick Jr. Arcade's preschool audience, Dora the Explorer Candy Land provides skill-building activities such as shape, color and letter recognition, Spanish-language learning and counting games that are replayable without becoming repetitive.
Black Hammer's team handled all of the design and development, including game design, art and animation, programming, some music, SFX and quality assurance. Much care and attention to detail were taken to maintain the integrity of Nickelodeon's characters and story worlds, as well as that of Hasbro's Candy Land board game.
Dora the Explorer Candy Land, along with Go,Diego, Go!: Safari Rescue, became the two top selling games on Nick Jr. within weeks of their release.
